I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan Sport, 3.3L V6 engine. I had brake repairs done, but the pedal is “firm” & hard to push and yet the van doesn’t stop as it should. I had the front pads & rotors replaced along with the rear drums, shoes, springs & one cylinder. The front calipers & master cylinder are about one year old. The emergency brake, which hadn’t worked since I bought the van, was tightened and now works. The brakes have been bled twice, and a test on the “booster” showed good pressure/vacuum readings. I am at a loss as to what to try next.

Front brakes on my Ranger engaged yesterday and will not release. They are not locked. I was able to limp home. Sounds like master cylinder needs to be replaced. Can anyone advise?

I have a 99 GMC Sonoma 4.3 L ext. cab with the ZR2 package. 4 wheel disc brakes. My problem is the right rear brake continually wears out prematurely. I have replaced the brakes twice in the last 20000 miles. The last time I replaced calipers, steel lines, and all three rear hoses, I also flushed out all the brake fluid and refilled with new. Can anyone help me, I need to replace the brakes again.

How do you remove the brake-caliper guide pins on a 1990 Ford Ranger 2.9L?

I have a 2001 Olds Bravada. Lately I have been having a problem with the brakes. There are NO leaks and it is full of fluid. The problem is that sometimes when I brake, and I mean easily, not slamming on them, there is a popping noise and the brake pedal pushes back into my foot and the vehicle doesn’t want to stop. I have to really press hard to get the brakes to work when this happens at all. It does have an ABS system but the light doesn’t come on when this happens. At other times the ABS light does come on but when it is on there is no problem.

I have had one person tell me this has to do with the vacuum hose to the gas tank being the problem. Another says this only happens with the brakes if I drive through water or hit ice, even though I have told them that no, there have been times that there has been no puddles or ice. Someone else said that it is the gears shifting, since it is all wheel drive, yet I have never known brakes to fail when gears shift. Another person said this was common in the Bravada, which sounds like bunk to me since it is obviously a safety issue.

Can someone PLEASE give me some insight into this and what might be going on? Thanks in advance.

I have tried to open the bleed valve and compressing but this did not help?
