I have a 1998 Toyota Cam….my car was running fine then all of a sudden the check engine light came on and my car stopped. I checked my oil and it was low so I added some oil and the car started, however now the car shakes and will not drive over 20mph. If I accelerate the gas I hear a banging sound. Im trying to figure out if the car is worth saving.

check engine light is on…the obdII says #5 cylinder misfire…i’ve done evrything….smoke test….changed the jet…new gasket on #5…new coil pack….even the ford dealership can’t figure out whats wrong. It skips for the first couple of minutes and then runs smooth. they could only get the check engine light off long enough to pass inspection….then right back on….what else could it be?

This past weekend my car was driven about 15 miles with the emergency brake on. After that the check engine light starting blinking. I went by Autozone and the codes they gave me were P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor and P1101 Neutral Switch Circuit High Input (A/T). NEither one sounds super urgent, the car is driving fine with no issues. I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas on fixing the problems or if it is super urgent.

scanner said that it is a coolant temp closed loop problem. I changed the ect sensor and thermostat and the check engine light is still comming on. The Haynes repair book says that its a o2 heater sensor fault. Should I replace (bank1 sensor1) or is it something else? My tags are going to expire if I cant get it inspected. I hired a mechanic to replace the timing belt on a 2005 Chevy Aveo. As he was testing it, the timing belt slipped and caused damage to the valves. A machine shop repaired the valve damage. After putting together the engine the car started making a rattling noise, and the car wouldn’t idle properly. When we raise the RPMs the rattling noise goes away and the engine seems to work fine. We identified the rattle noise coming from the PVC valve area and we changed it. We performed idle relearn. We checked all the hoses for leak, but still no luck. We are getting an error code P2279 air intake leak. The mechanic at this point told me that he is stumped and doesn’t know what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

The check engine light is on still after I replaced both bank 1 & 2 O2 sensors. Is there a bad fuse that is keeping the engine light on?

Yesterday the Service Engine Soon light came on in my 2004 Chevy Blazer. I took it to Goodyear this morning for a diagnostic test and asked them also to change the oil since it has been a long time (since Sept. 09) since I did that. (I know my bad). The tech changed the oil, etc. and told me that the temp sensor was causing the error and I needed a new coolant temp sensor, thermostat & gasket, radiator hoses all replaced, coolant flush, radiator cap and decarb for almost $500. I had to be to work so I made an appointment for tomorrow morning. But as I drove away the light went out. Could it be all I needed was an oil change? Help please!

88 Bronco, Check engine light comes on and idle varies from 500 to 1500 rpm. frequently stalls acts like it wants to backfire but doesn’t. It happened a year ago but went away but is back. It did mostly through winter went away in spring but came back this spring. Acts like a short?
