While driving this morning the vehichle stoped.I looked under hood and it showed that the resovoir was empty even though it didn’t give any signs of overheating. I replaced the thermostat and top hose. Now it sounds like it is trying to start but not getting any gas. What could be the problem?

I have a 1984 Chevrolet C10, 6 cyl. – I had some connection issues prior, where I had to wiggle the positive cable to the battery,and would start. Then it quit on me while driving somewhere, I thought maybe it was out of fuel, because the gauges aren’t messed up, but has a full tank. When I pulled off the freeway, I tried starting it again, it turned over fine, but then had the no good connection problem again, and no amount of moving the battery cables worked. I did not smell a high odor of fuel or see anything dripping from the engine underside that might tell me that the fuel pump failed. It also has an HEI (high output?) distributor cap if that makes any difference. I cleaned the ground cable to the engine and where it contacts to the engine, but no luck. I’m sorry to say I don’t know the engine size, my other half got it a couple months ago. This is my only transportation, I’m not a mechanic or electrical expert, and don’t have the money to hire somebody.

Hi all,as i was driving my rover 400 tonight,it suddenly died on me..no warning,nothing.the only thing that was on,were the ignition lights,but they were very dim.Even when i took the keys out of the ignition,they stayed on.I looked under the bonnet and found the positive battery cable was loose.When i touched the cable to the battery,there was a clicking noise from the other side of the engine.I couldn’t work on it ‘cos of the dark and i had no tools.The car is still at the side of the road,miles from where i live.Any ideas anyone please….

My car was dying when I was driving down the road, I put a new fuel filter on it,but it is still dying when I drive it,and I have to jump it to get it started now. What is the problem?

Had my son’s car towed to the shop on Friday because it stalled on him twice. On his check up sheet in August 2010, the only thing needing attention was his serpentine belt; everything else was green.

After they checked the vehicle, they reported that the timing belt needed to be changed. Some other things they noted was the front brakes and the rotors needed to be changed, transmission flushed, new spark plugs. Is it possible for all this to go wrong in the space of two months?

1998 Mercury Tracer, 4 cylinder automatic

I have a 2002 Windstar, my mechanic told me that the trouble I was having with the vehicle dying on the road and sometimes not starting was my fuel pump. So, in the spirit of saving a few bucks, I replaced it myself and the vehicle still won’t start. I would really appreciate some thoughts on possible solutions

I am having problems with both of my Volvos, a 1989 760 turbo wagon which I just bought, and a 1990 740 turbo wagon that I have owned for several years. The 760 was well maintained and has 202,000 miles. It ran perfectly for the month I have owned it. Then, last night, I drove it to the post office, and turned it off. Five minutes later, I went to leave, and it wouldn’t start. It cranks over, strong battery, good fuel pressure, power to the coil, but no spark. My boyfriend works on cars, but can’t figure out where to look next.
In a stroke of great timing and coincidence, the 740, which has frequently been used for my newspaper delivery business, has begun to sputter and stall after driving fine the first 20-60 minutes. It gets progressively worse until it can barely go a few yards, and finally, fails to start until it has rested for a few hours, when the cycle repeats itself.
I am desperate to get at least one of these cars back on the road ASAP so I don’t lose my job.

Vehicle stalls on deceleration. Computer codes are 14 and 66.
Auto mechanics tested computer and said it was transmission solenoid. Transmission mechanics said nothing wrong with solenoid. Original mechanics tested again and found nothing. Told me to take vehicle to ford dealership and pay them to test. Prior to stalling problem, had oil leak in oil sending unit. Replaced oil sender then when test drove it began to stall when coming to stop or slowing to turn. Friend recommended changing crank sensor, this made no difference.

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4 4.0 liter that suddenly stopped running while I was driving. When it first started it would stutter and not pick up speed. I would have to restart the engine. I changed the fuel filter but this haven’t done any good. Now it constantly kills after a while.
