03 Pontiac vibe / heater blows cold air when driven slowly (or at idle) even when motor is up to normal temp. Blows hot air when driven on the highway. Temp gage worms up normal. Makes me think thermostat is OK.??? Doesn’t leak antifreeze. Heater core, bad circulation???

2002 Ford Taurus with 113,000

Heater/defrost problem even after thermostat replacement, thorough cooling system flushes and added coolant. No reported leaks of any kind and fan blower works fine. Interior climate control switch doesn’t seem to work and the temp remains pretty much the same. Diagnose?
