It has a broken timing chain, Will that damage the over head vavles, can I skip looking at posible damaged valves and just insall new timing belt?

I have dodge avenger 2.5 v6 timing belt broke in

drive way. cant get the timing marks align right Need

Car died going down the road. After a few hours of trying to figure out what was wrong we found out it was the timing belt. Took it to a shop, they fixed the timing belt, tensioner etc etc.  After 4 days of them having my van they tell me now we have a problem with the idle. The car will not keep running because of the idle. They did a pressure test on valves 1, 2 and 4. They could not test 3 because of some kind if sleeve in there. Anyways, I have searched everywhere and everything tells me that we probably have a bent valve. It also says if we have a bent valve we do not want to drive it because we risk causing further damage. I told the mechanic this and he said no it could not cause further damage.

My question is, is this mechanic a liar or what? If I drive this with a bent value, will I damage my engine and turn this van into a hunk of junk? Is it possible it has more damage than what this guy is testing for? HELP!!!

He said he is going to do something with the timing to “clean it up” so it will idle smoother but does not suggest we run it long distances. Sounds fishy to me! He knows we can not afford more than the $500 he already charged us for this. grrrrr

so i  changed the timing belt in this car i just bought however it keeps misfiring and wont start. ive changes the distributor cap, rotar, plugs, wires, and ive checked the coil and changed the igniter ive tried to use starting fluid in the carb however it blows back up once i try to start it does anyone have any suggestions?????? thanks

TIMING BELT BROKE PUT NEW ONE IN NOW I HAVE NO IGNITION SPARK THE BATTERY FULLY CHARGED NO SPARK BUT I KEEP TRYING THE BATTER WAS ALMOST DEAD JUST TURN OVER ONCE ,I HAD SPARK CHARGED BATTERY NO SPARK THE COMPUTER HAS 4.5 VOLTS HELP

I hired a mechanic to replace the timing belt on a 2005 Chevy Aveo. As he was testing it, the timing belt slipped and caused damage to the valves. A machine shop repaired the valve damage. After putting together the engine the car started making a rattling noise, and the car wouldn’t idle properly. When we raise the RPMs the rattling noise goes away and the engine seems to work fine. We identified the rattle noise coming from the PVC valve area and we changed it. We performed idle relearn. We checked all the hoses for leak, but still no luck. We are getting an error code P2279 air intake leak. The mechanic at this point told me that he is stumped and doesn’t know what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have 2003 A4 (petrol 2.0) with 79K on clock. How can I check belt has been changed ? Limitwed sv. history.

Manual says due 114K miles local garage says due now ?

I have a 2004 MG ZR and i needed the water pump changing, the mechanic also changed the timing belt as it had to come off anyway, this was done in january. The other day i was driving and started to stop to come up to a junction and it shuddered and cut out, to begin with it wouldnt even attemp to turn over and after 15/20 mins it started to attempt to start but couldnt, everytime i turned the key to start it there was a horrible thumping noise from the front and it sounded like my exhuast unless it was just back fireing. When the AA man got there my timing belt wasnt moving and there were tiny shards of metal that had fallen on the inside of the gear things, the timing marks of the top two were both pointed at 2pm. I have a feeling that this is because of the mechanic maybe not doing things up properly and something jumping? or is this something different. i didnt notice any lack in power.
