Is the Check Engine Light On? If So have you pulled the codes yet? and what are they?
Does the engine have Spark or Injection Pulse?

I had the same year monte carlo and it did the same thing I replaced the fuel pump , and blew out fuel lines and inline fuel filters that was not the problem . The problem was in the sock filter located in the back of the gas tank which is not visiable you have to drop the gas tank. just a suggestion
