my transmission lines busted yesterday and afterwards i tried to start vehicle, the ignition wont turn over and cannot push gear shift knob in to move into another gear, yes i applied the brake while performing these actions.

my transmission lines busted yesterday and afterwards i tried to start vehicle, the ignition wont turn over and cannot push gear shift knob in to move into another gear, yes i applied the brake while performing these actions.
1) applying the brake activates and electrical solenoid that allows you to move the shift lever which requires battery power. At the same time the ignition switch also requires battery power in order to engage the starter and start the engine. That being said, I would have to start by looking at the battery. A bad or loose connection. Maybe the battery is dead or needs replaced.
