There should be a clamp up by the top of the fill neck to loosen or you should be able to unbolt the plate from inside the fuel door. Then you should be able to lower the entire assembly. Not the easiest to get to, but it can be done.
)Remove the fuel filler cap and properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
)Disconnect the negative battery cable.
)Loosen the lug nuts on the right rear wheel, then raise and support the rear of the vehicle using jackstands.
)Remove the rubber cap from the drain tube. The tube is located on the rear of the fuel tank. Connect either a portable holding tank or a siphon hose to the drain tube.
)Drain the fuel tank into a holding tank or a properly labeled gasoline safety container.
)Remove the fuel filler tube-to-quarter panel screws.
)Remove the right rear tire and wheel assembly.
)Unplug the pump and sending unit wire connectors.
)Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the fuel pump. Refer to the procedures describing fuel line removal earlier in this section.
)Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack. Loosen the mounting straps and lower the tank slightly. Remove the hose from the pressure relief/rollover valve.
)Carefully work the fuel filler tube from the tank.
)Remove the tank mounting straps and lower the tank.
