Caution: The high intensity discharge system produces high voltage and current. In order to reduce the risk of severe shocks and burns, the battery negative cable must be disconnected any time service work is being performed on or around the high intensity discharge system.
Caution: The high intensity discharge system produces high voltage and current. To reduce the risk of severe shocks and burns:
• Never open the high intensity discharge system ballast or the arc tube assembly starter.
• Never probe between the high intensity discharge system ballast output connector and the arc tube assembly.
Preliminary Procedure
Remove the headlamp.
1 Headlamp Bulb Cover Screw (Qty: 3)
Tip
Do not remove the front bumper fascia to perform this procedure. Just remove enough fasteners and retainers in order to lower one corner of the bumper fascia to access the bulb.
Tighten 3 N·m (27 lb in)
2 Headlamp Bulb Cover
3 Headlamp Bulb Retention Spring (Qty: 2)
Tip
Release the springs in order to access the high intensity discharge (HID) bulb.
4 Headlamp Bulb Electrical Connector
Tip
Pull the bulb rearward and release the electrical connector from the bulb.
5 Headlamp Bulb
Tip
Pull the headlamp bulb from the headlamp assembly

Tip
Do not remove the front bumper fascia to perform this procedure. Just remove enough fasteners and retainers in order to lower one corner of the bumper fascia to access the bulb.
Tighten 3 N·m (27 lb in)
2 Headlamp Bulb Cover
3 Headlamp Bulb Retention Spring (Qty: 2)
Tip
Release the springs in order to access the high intensity discharge (HID) bulb.
4 Headlamp Bulb Electrical Connector
Tip
Pull the bulb rearward and release the electrical connector from the bulb.
5 Headlamp Bulb
Tip
Pull the headlamp bulb from the headlamp assembly
