1.Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Pre-Service procedures in this section.
2.NOTE: After relieving the fuel pressure, make sure the ignition switch (11572) is in the OFF position.
Remove the fuel injection supply manifold (9D280). Refer to the procedure in this section.
3.Remove and discard the two Torx® (T-25) fuel pressure regulator screws from the fuel pressure regulator housing.
4.NOTE: If scraping is necessary to remove the gasket, be careful not to damage the fuel pressure regulator (9C968) or fuel supply line fuel pressure regulator seal surfaces.
Remove the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure regulator seal, and O-ring. Discard the gasket and the O-ring.
Installation
1.Ensure that the fuel pressure regulator seal surfaces of the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel injection supply manifold are clean.
2.Lubricate a new fuel pressure regulator O-ring with light grade engine oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E such as Motorcraft 10W30 motor oil, or equivalent.
3.Install new O-rings and fuel pressure regulator seal and the fuel pressure regulator.
4.Use new Torx® (T-25) head screws to install the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel injection supply manifold. Tighten the two fuel pressure regulator screws to 3-4 Nm (27-40 lb-in).
5.Install the fuel injection supply manifold. Refer to the procedure in this section.
6.Start the engine (6007) and run it at idle for two minutes.
