1995 Ford F 350 7.3 liter

The main issue is that it misfires at IDLE, when cold started it runs rough and has blue/grey smoke. When the block heater is used, its not as bad. When you start driving it the misfire is noticeable until about 1500rpm then it clears up. Once warm and youre driving around, truck seems normal and the power is there. When you pull up to a stop and let it idle it will run fine then slowly start to miss and haze a little smoke.
What do you think is wrong?

  1. Hard to say without running a few tests. Since diesel engines run on compression, this would be one of the first things I would check. A compression test can tell you a lot.

    What is a Compression Test?

If your compression test checks out OK, then you may consider a fuel injection failure. Possibly a clogged or stuck fuel injector.

Are there any check engine light codes? post’em below a comment.
