just all of a sudden my vehicle will not do anything when turning the key. I have one single click and nothing else. Ran fine and just started with no indication of anything being wrong. Is this my starter or could it be something else

One Hard Click is Definitely the starter. Replacing it will fix the problem.
If you need a quick fix to be able to drive it to a shop for repair: have someone hold the ignition key in the “START” position and smack the starter with a hammer. This will work once or twice but after that you are stuck. This action jars the brushes enough to make contact with the armature one last time and allows it to start.
