How imperative is it to change the spark plugs and wire at 100K miles. Truck is running fine and has 127K miles on it. Will be driving about 1800 miles pulling a 3500lb max load trailer

If it is running fine, you do not have to or need to change them. This is done for maintenance reasons. You could remove a spark plug and inspect it. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to replace them anyway. If it was mine and I was about to tow something 1800 miles.. I would be changing the oil, topping off the fluids, checking the tires for wear and pressure and if it needed plugs and wires… you bet, I would replace them and even throw in a fuel filter and air filter. I would even check my belt and test the A/C but that’s just me.
Now, what would happen if you didn’t replace the plugs and wires? possibly you start to have a misfire along the way and it only runs on 7 cylinders. It would start sputtering going up hills and you would get horrible gas mileage.
If it is pulling fine up hills now, might not have any issues at all.
