If the check engine light is on and the codes correlate with the throttle body as this is a common issue with the G6. The throttle position sensors (there are two) are located in the throttle body. If one of the sensors is off, the correlation between the two sensors will be out of range and set a code. The computer then is forced into a reduced power mode. The fix for your problem is going to be to replace the throttle body.
