My son is driving my truck,he says the oil pressure gauge is going up and down and now the truck has died.He said before that the pressure was all the way up,what could cause the vehicle to die?

There are several things that could cause the engine to die. If there was no knocking noises then the engine should still be ok…. Does it crank over?
