Generally speaking when a car engine will not start or even crank over the number one reason is the Battery. Since you have already tried a new battery you can move on with your diagnosis.
If you get one hard click it usually indicates a bad starter.
If you get several clicks(click, click, click) a weak battery
Nothing at all… a dead battery, bad connections, bad wiring, bad starter, bad relay, or bad gear selector switch.
If nothing happens at all and you are 100% certain the battery is good and charged you will want to test to make sure power is getting to the starter. Check for battery voltage at the “S” terminal on the starter while someone holds the key in the “START” position. If you see battery voltage… replace the starter. No voltage, back track through the gear selector switch and repair/replace as needed.
