to answer your question…. Yes. if the remote starter kit comes with an immobilizer by pass.
The odds of it being your pass-lock system are slim since it does start on occasion. It is more likely that when you hit the key and you get nothing? that the starter is in fact receiving battery voltage. If this is the case, the starter needs to be replaced.
A simple test for battery voltage at the “S” terminal on the starter while someone holds the key in the the “START” position, the next time it will not start.
