First thing to do would be to pull any diagnostic trouble codes from the engine computer. You can do it yourself from home. Post any codes below and we will address them.
Next clean and or replace the air filter if needed. Clean the throat of the throttle body and the edges of the butterfly. Use alcohol based solvent and spray ion rag and wipe. DO NOT spray in throttle body. This will allow a smidge more air and should satisfy the engine enough to allow it to stay running. This build up is common on older engines.
