Just changed the alternator and belt. Now no heat coming from defroster and temperature gauge goes up right away. Any ideas?

Wondering if maybe you installed the belt incorrectly and the water pump isn’t turning?
Generally this would be an indication of no coolant or low on coolant. Since it happened after you worked on it, I would double check your work first. Then check your coolant level.
