2003 Hyundai Accent. New battery installed but when you try and start the car all the lights come on and it clicks but engine won’t turn over.
There may be a few different reasons the engine won’t turn over.
- The “NEW” battery is not fully charged
- Battery cables or connections are corroded
- Starter relay faulty
- Burglar alarm relay activated or faulty
- Wiring harness damage
Generally when the ignition key is turned to the “START” position and you here several clicks(click, click, click) it indicates a weak or dead battery. If you only get one click and then nothing, it indicates loose wiring or corrosion. A soft click may be the relays. A hard click would indicate a faulty starter. You can check for battery voltage at the “S” terminal on the starter when the key is held in the “START” position. If you see battery voltage from a fully charged battery at the “S” terminal, replace the starter assembly.
