So we have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 5.9 engine. It runs fine, except in rain. When it rains or has rained, it will turn over but not start. Disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes generally fixes it. My theory would be a distributor cap or intake manifold, but i really have no idea. Thanks!
Wont start in the rain
A complete tune up would be a good place to start especially if it has been a while. If disconnecting the battery fixes it the issue may be a bit different. It is possible that the connections at the battery are corroded or damaged. Next time it rains and won’t start see if wiggling the wires at the battery while someone cranks it over causes it to start. If it does, clean all the connectors and wiring at the battery.
