An engine requires 4 things and at the right time.
- Fuel – injector pulse and fuel pressure
- Spark – ignition spark
- Air – metered air flow
- Compression
So a compression test and timing are left for you to check.
Lets dig into the codes. When I have multiple codes I like to look for something common that might cause all the codes. I have the codes listed below along with the possible causes. It appears as though the common factor would be the PCM.
P0123 – Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor / Switch A Circuit High
Code P0123 Possible Causes
- Throttle Position Sensor Sweep
- Intermittent Condition
- (K22) TP Signal Circuit Shorted to (K6) 5 Volt Supply Circuit
- (K22) TP Signal Circuit Shorted to Battery Voltage
- TP Sensor Failure
- (K22) TP Signal Circuit Open
- (K4) Sensor Ground Circuit Open
- PCM
P1598 – A/C Pressure Sensor Volts Too High
Code P1598 Possible Causes
- Intermittent Condition
- (C18) A/C Pressure Sensor Signal Circuit Shorted To (F855) 5-Volt Supply Circuit
- (C18) A/C Pressure Sensor Signal Circuit Shorted To Battery Voltage
- A/C Pressure Sensor Internal Failure
- (C18) A/C Pressure Sensor Signal Circuit Open
- (K900) Sensor Ground Circuit Open
- PCM
P1496 – 5 Volt Supply Too Low
Code P1496 Possible Causes
- Intermittent Condition
- Throttle Position Sensor
- MAP Sensor
- A/C Pressure Sensor
- EGR Solenoid
- (F855) 5-Volt Supplied Shorted To Ground
- PCM
P1193 – Inlet Air Temp Sensor Voltage High
Code P1193 Possible Causes
- IAT sensor voltage above 4.6 volts
- (K21) IAT Sensor signal circuit shorted to battery voltage
- IAT Sensor internal failure
- (K21) IAT sensor signal circuit open
- (K900) Sensor Ground Circuit Open
- PCM
