Windows won’t go up or down 2002 Saab 9-3 Convertible

SAAB 9-3

My windows will sometimes go down and if so I have to play with the convertible top releasing it back and forth until the windows come up. Most the time I can’t get the windows down at all. I’m hoping this is a easy electrical fix. We have checked the fuses. Any direction/advice on this scenario

Since your issue is intermittent it is not fuse related or they wouldn’t work at all, ever. Do you hear noise when trying to move the window? The window regulator may be faulty. The regulator will need to be replaced.

Possible Causes

  • Faulty Window Motor Regulator – MOST COMMON
  • Faulty wiring – brittle or damaged wiring harness
  • Poor or loose connections
  • Faulty switch
  • Faulty window motor

I would rule out bad window motors if all the windows are having an issue. But if just one is having the issue, then most likely the motor is worn and will need to be replaced.
