2000 chevy silverado 1500 4X4 LS 4.8 Transmission not shifting & speedometer pinging up & down a little. Show speed sensor, put new ACdelco sensor in. Still not shifting Speedometer not moving an diagnostic shows 3 mph when not moving.
Sure sounds like the transmission is slipping. High revs and no go usually means a burnt transmission. Check the fluid level and color to to certain.
ABS Brake Speed Sensor
The abs brake sensor receives ignition voltage from the electronic brake control module and provides a DC square wave signal back to the module. As the wheel spins, the EBCM uses the frequency of the square wave to signal to calculate the wheel speed.
VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor
A toothed wheel mounted on the output shaft of the transmission generates an AC voltage pulse as it moves past the VSS – Vehicle Speed Sensor. The VSS contains a permanent magnet surrounded by a coil of wire, which produces a magnetic field. The toothed wheel interrupts the magnetic field that generates an AC voltage pulse. As the vehicle speed increases the AC voltage pulse rate also increases.
