so recently i took my car to the mechanic for overheating …the mechanic said he couldnt fix it until he fix the thermostat housing …he fixed the thermostat housing and said the car was ready ..when i went to pick the car up and took it to the gas staion to get gas it wouldn’t start up ..i called the mechanic and they had it towed back to the shop..once i got back to the shop the mechanic started the car with the radiator cap off and then coolant spewed out …after that he said the engine was blown.. i want to know was that something he shouldve fixed before i picked up the car and was it his fault that the engine blown
This is something that will need to be worked out between you and your mechanic. Sounds to me like the head gasket is blown. But there are tests for that.
In general if a cooling system has a leak or a large leak, that leak has to be fixed in order to locate any additional leaks. So the thermostat housing was leaking. You paid the mechanic to fix that leak and he did the work. Turns out there was more wrong with it than just the thermostat housing leak. As within minutes of you picking the vehicle up further problems showed. Yeah, maybe the mechanic should have tested it better before releasing it. But the outcome would still be the same. The vehicle is broke and you will need to repair or replace it. So lets focus on repairing it as this is what I might be able to help you with. Let me know what the engine size is?
