Hi I have a mk3 scirocco r 2.0 tsi and have fault code p2185 (g83) coolant temperature sensor 2 circuit high ! I changed the temp sensor but has not got rid of the code i have wiped it off but comes back when the car is warm is there another sensor somewhere and info would be great thanks as I can’t find it! Is it by the radiator maybe?
With the code description stating “temperature sensor 2” I would definitely think there is a temperature sensor 1 and a separate temperature sensor 2. Meaning there is more than one temperature sensor.
After doing a bit of research I have found that the “temperature sensor 2” is generally located on or attached to the radiator.
Code P2185 Possible Causes
- Low coolant level
- Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
- Stuck or leaking thermostat
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
So I did a little more digging and found this video that points to the coolant temp sensor being inline in the Radiator hose. Look ahead to about 5:10 or so.
Thanks for the reply do you have a picture or anything to show exactly where it is as I can’t find it anywhere and what part I would need to order?
