Vibration between 20 and 25 mph. All u-joints (front steering and both driveshafts) are solid. Vibration is too fast to be a wheel or tire. What else should I check? It is a 2015 Ram 3500 4wd.
So I recently made a video that covers this exact question. Check it out below.
In general you will want to determine if you notice the vibration in the steering wheel or in the seat of your pants. Once you have determined the location you will want to rotate the wheels/tires and test drive it. What you are looking for is to see if the vibration moves location. If that happens it could be as simple as balance due to a lost wheel weight. or it could be a broken belt in the tire itself. Lets suppose the vibration did not move location. That will rule out the wheels and tires as being the cause.
Next you will want to jack up the front end one side at a time by the lower control arms. You will want to move the tire by wiggling it top to bottom and them side to side. You are looking for play or movement. There shouldn’t be any. If you notice some you will want to look closely at each component while you move the tire or even easier if you have someone else wiggle the tire while you are looking.
I’m on lots of forums on the internet. This one is by far the hardest to figure out. I had a question about a driveshaft vibration on here. I can’t find my question, but I did figure out the problem. It was a u-joint. In 4 1/2 million miles, I’ve never had one vibrate that I couldn’t shake when checking them. I just kept driving until it got bad enough that I could find it.
First, this is not a forum. Second you did just reply to the question you asked so I’m glad you did in fact find it.(the system emails you a direct link when answered) Most importantly, even though you stated in your question ” All u-joints (front steering and both driveshafts) are solid ” that you were able to re-check and discover what was causing your vibration. Thanks for letting us know.
