Will my car make a 6,500-mile road trip across US?

honda accord

I am wondering if my car would make it on a 6,500-mile road trip across US 50 and back. It has few issues and would likely be serviced right before the trip. I have a Honda Accord V6, 2007, +100,000 miles.

The actual condition of the vehicle makes a huge difference, Has it been in a wreck? Transmission issues?

Coin Flip

I’m sure it would make it there and back but may have issues along the way. Water pump could go out, fuel pump could fail, flat tire, so on and so on. The vehicle is 14 years old with 100K miles on it. So it is possible that it will have an issue and just as possible to not endure any issues at all along the way.

Overall I carry a High opinion of Honda in general. But any thing is possible. So with that in mind you may want to spend you time and effort on thinking about being prepared for the what if’s. You can do a couple of things like renting a newer car instead of taking yours. Or at a minimum I would recommend purchasing a AAA membership.

Of course these are things above and beyond checking the fluids and tire pressure yourself. These are things you do not want to rely solely on your mechanic to do.

Existing Issues

Also you stated it has a few issues. You may want to take care of those issues before you go as apposed to waiting til you return. For example, lets say the tires are worn and you were planning on getting them replaced when you got back. Replace the tires NOW. They are going to cost the same money. Doing it now with give you the added benefit while on your trip. So taking care of any concerning issue now might be something to consider.
