My passenger side window rolls down but will not roll back up on my Volksvagon Routan 2009
The most common reason for this would be the power window regulator assembly followed by wiring harness damage and or switch failure. What happens is the cables come apart internally on the regulator. Replacing it is the best option.
WINDOW REGULATOR, OVERHAUL
- Remove door trim panel.
- Remove window regulator.
- Inspect all bushings and gears, if equipped, for wear or damage. If wear or damage is present, replace with new.
- Reverse procedure to install. Ensure proper operation after installation.
Front Door Window Regulator
- Left side shown. Right side similar.
Removing
►Remove the front door trim panel.
►Disconnect the wire harness connector (4) from the window regulator motor (1).
►Remove the 3 screws (3) that secure the window regulator motor to the carrier plate (2) and remove the motor.
►If servicing the window regulator, remove the carrier plate (2) and place it on a workbench.
►Remove the 4 screws (3 and 4) that secure the window regulator rails (1) to the carrier plate and remove the window regulator.
Installing
►If servicing the window regulator, position the window regulator rails (1) to the carrier plate (2) and install the 4 screws (3 and 4). Tighten the screws to 9 Nm (80 in lbs).
►Install the carrier plate.
►Install the window regulator motor (1) onto the carrier plate (2). If necessary, rotate the motor slightly to align the splines on the motor with the window regulator linkage.
►Install the three screws (3) that secure the window regulator motor to the carrier plate. Tighten the screws to 2.8 Nm (25 in lbs).
►Connect the wire harness connector (4) to the window regulator motor.
►Install the front door trim panel.
