Wanting to make car a street legal race car. It is a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Sounds like fun. Expensive, but fun none the less. Did you have a question or were you just wanting the world to know? Did you have a 1/4 mile time in mind as a goal to achieve? Are you working with a limited budget? Do you already have the car? Are you wanting to leave it front wheel drive?
As the vehicle sets from the factory it is street legal and as long as it meets track requirements can also be raced. Might not be as competitive as you would like though.
The 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo came with the 3.4L engine and the SS Version came with the 3.8L engine. There are lots of aftermarket performance parts available for the 3.8L engine.
Most Horsepower for the Money
Without doing anything else to the vehicle the most horsepower for the money is going to come from the installation of a Nitrous Kit. This will add an adjustable 35-150HP instantly when activated. I have used these kits before on many vehicles and have had great success.
