Hard starting when cold. Severe unburnt fuel & HEAVY smoke. Indications of low compression. Low limit spec is 279psi, spec for new is 368-456 psi. My readings were 370/405/390/360. Cylinder head was rebuilt, no improvement. Turbo new, No improvement. Thoughts?
Hard Starting could be failing glow plugs. This is assuming the smoke clears after it is running. If it is smoking heavy and unburnt smell while running there may be more going on. The possibility of a leaky fuel injector isn’t something to rule out. I would start with the cylinder with the lowest psi. Might check the glow plug relay to make sure it isn’t just sticking.
