Im getting 3 CEL codes P2195, P0420, and P0301. The truck runs rough and can not climb small hills. There is a slight egg smell. I know one code is a misfire in Cyl 1 so I put in a new coil, and plug for that cyl and its seems a bit worst now. What could be happening?
It is possible that the fuel injector on cylinder 1 is sticking open causing both a misfire and the catalytic converter to smell from the extra fuel burning. And or more likely a failed or sticking Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxygen sensor. This would cause the engine to dump massive amounts of fuel on bank 1 side of the engine and would also cause the smell from the converter.
How I got there is based on the codes. Like you said, one is a misfire code. P0301 – Engine Misfire Cylinder 1, Code p0420 is a catalytic converter performance code and P2195 is an O2 sensor signal biased/stuck lean bank 1, sensor 1.
Using a diagnostic scan tool monitor the o2 sensor to see if the voltage changes as it should.
