My repair shop has advised the hoses on my Lexus are beginning to show wear. Is this visible to the untrained eye, because I don’t see any wear. Should I proceed with their recommendation? (Not a Lexus dealer) Vehicle as 138,xxx miles.
Sometimes the visible wear is the ability to collapse the hoses easily. Hoses are one of those things that are good until they aren’t. So, you can role the dice but the mechanic is covered when the hose busts. I haven’t had many coolant hoses bust, but I have had it happen on vehicles with higher mileage.
The manufacturer recommends a coolant system leak inspection every 25,000 miles.
