When I accelerate my car accelerates slow and the rpms jump what could be wrong with my car????


All sorts of things. clutch slipping is what it sounds like to me.

CLUTCH, REPLACE

  1. Remove A/C compressor as outlined in “Compressor, Replace.”
  2. Remove bolt from compressor shaft while holding clutch plate and hub with counterhold tool No. 412-134 or equivalent. Do not use air tools. Compressor pulley may be damaged.
  3. Remove clutch plate, hub and shims.
  4. Remove snap ring from compressor pulley.
  5. Remove compressor pulley using suitable puller.
  6. Remove snap ring, then remove clutch field coil using suitable puller.
  7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    a. Inspect components for damage, wear and grooving. If one defective component is found, clutch plate, hub and pulley must all be replaced together.
    b. Clean all mounting surfaces.
    c. Torque compressor shaft bolt to 10 ft. lbs.
    d. Adjust air gap shims as outlined in “Air Gap, Adjustment.”
