Hi there, I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring LX Sedan. 4 Months ago I had my battery and starter replaced. Everything seemed to be fine until about a month ago my car started making a loud whistling sound when pressure was applied to the gas pedal. I dont know if that has anything to do with my car dying a few days ago or not. I was driving it and I noticed that the speed wasn’t matching the pressure I was applying to the gas. And then it died. I was low on gas at the time so I added gas and oil just to be sure and it wouldn’t start. I had a friend try to jump it and the engine turns over (it makes a clicking sound) but it still won’t turn on. Any ideas? Im desperate!
These Chrysler’s are known for the timing belt to break and take out the engine. If it sounds like the engine is spinning over a little easier than it used to, then most likely a busted timing belt. That would be the most common in my opinion. However there are many, many other reasons for the engine to not want to start. Here is a link to a step by step diagnostic chart.
