Fuel pump Replacement 1993 Chevrolet Astro 4.3 tbi

Chevy Astro

While trying to accelerate the van sputters and acts like its trying to stall out, the only way i found to counter-act the problem is to floor it kinda a go or blow thing i replaced the distributor and fuel filter whatvelse coukd be the cause of it?

This sounds like the fuel pressure is no longer sufficient. The biggest cause of this would be a faulty fuel pump. A fuel pressure test can be performed ahead of time or just replace the fuel pump if you are feeling lucky. The fuel pressure needs to be between 9 – 13 psi.

DIAGNOSIS & TESTING

FUEL PUMP FLOW TEST

  1. Relieve fuel pump pressure, then disconnect fuel feed line and install a suitable hose on line. Place other end of hose into suitable container
  2. Apply battery voltage to fuel pump test terminal.
  3. Fuel pump should supply 1/2 pint or more within 15 seconds.
  4. If flow is below minimum, check for fuel restriction. If no restrictions are noted, check pump pressure.
