2003 Toyota Camry LE Cooling Fans Stopped Working

Toyota Camry

The radiator fans ran for a while after the ignition was turned off, when it’s hot. That stopped. What is broken and needs replacement? Thanks for your time and consideration.

There are a few things that make the fan go round. A signal to turn on activates a fan relay that connects power from a fuse to the cooling fan motor. The signal is sent from the engines Computer based on a signal it receives from the engine coolant temperature sensor. And all of this stuff is connected with wires. Any of those things listed could have an issue causing you grief.

It is also possible that the engine isn’t as hot and the fan doesn’t need to be running. Using a Cordless Infrared Temperature Gun would let you know real quick. You will need to start troubleshooting the components and wiring should you find the Fan motor needs to be operating and isn’t.

I like to start with applying voltage to the fan motor first to make sure it is operational using a Power Probe. If that checks out okay then move on to the relays/fuses. Here is a wiring diagram to help assist you in understanding the circuit.
