2000 Honda Civic engine shutters and electrical accessories will stop working

Honda Civic

When driving the gauges gyrate and the dash lights flicker. Under acceleration the headlights dim. After some driving distance, the engine will begin to stutter and electrical accessories will stop working. Have changed alternator and battery. What’s next?

This sounds like the alternator is unable to charge the battery. You will need to locate the reason the alternator is unable to charge the battery. Check the alternator fuse(fuse 15). Yeah, I was surprised to find out it had one. A first for me.  Either bad wiring, cables or connection. First make certain the alternator is good on the vehicle.

Then check for the same voltage leaving the alternator and connected to the battery. Repair as needed.
