The ABS and Traction Control Light will come on to let you know they is an issue in the ABS System and it is no longer functional. The Traction Control is automatically disabled when a problem is found with the ABS.
Most likely reason would be a failed ABS Sensor/Speed Sensor. The light being on also indicated that a failure code has been stored. Having the codes pulled would point you to the sensor or problem that is causing the issue.
