I have a 2004 ford explorer and the 4×4 high light flashes like 8 times every 2 minutes or so and i changed the drivers aide hub assembly which didn’t fix the problem. My mechanic said that the passenger side needed fixed and that’d probably fix the light problem. Today I was driving and the front passenger side started making wierd noises like metal grinding and popping and scraping like noises. It seemed like it got worse and then better and worse again. So idk if this is just the last straw before the hub assembly completely broke or if I’m going to need another part. Please help i start college Monday and i have to have a ride. Let me know if these noises could be caused by a bad hub assembly or what? Thankyou.

What you described is a classic condition for a failing hub bearing assembly. Since it just started making the noise you should be able to limp it to the shop to get it repaired or you could do it yourself if you have the tools.
