took of terminal to see if alternator was good,it was gonna shut off so my son gave it gas and as soon as he did that i put the terminal back on and it sparked big time and now it runs like its running on 4 cylinders ,smoking blue and smelling like gas.did i blow something

First off, it should spark some. But if you connected it to the wrong terminals, then you may have caused some damage. Does it clear out at all?
