There are several things that could cause this.
The Most common would be a failed timing chain guide tensioner that comes apart, slides down between the timing chain and lower timing gear and causes the motor to lock up or break the chain.
Other reason could be and broken piston rod, dropped valve, run out of oil and damaged brearings or even as simple as a locked up A/C compressor. I would remove the belt and make sure it still won’t turn to be certain it is internal in the engine.
