How to replace radiator?


Radiator Replacement Procedure – 2012 Lincoln MKT 3.7L

Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud.
  3. Remove the front bumper cover.
  4. Disconnect the upper radiator hose and lower degas bottle hose from the radiator.
  5. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.
  6. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

Lift the tabs and remove the radiator support brackets and position the radiator toward the engine.

7.Remove the 2 A/C condenser bolts from the radiator and separate the condenser from the radiator. •To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
8. NOTE: Make sure the bottom radiator insulators are in place when installing the radiator.
Remove the radiator.
9.To install, reverse the removal procedure.
10.Fill and bleed the cooling system.

  1. Bumper Cover — Front

    Removal and Installation
    1.Remove the 4 front bumper cover pin-type retainers.
    2.Remove the 2 front bumper cover bolts.
    3.Remove the 6 fender splash shield screws (3 each side).
    4.Remove the 3 lower air deflector pin-type retainers.
    5.Remove the 2 outer lower air deflector bolts.
    6.Disconnect the fog lamp electrical connectors.
    7.Pull outward on the sides of the bumper cover to release it from the bumper cover brackets.
    8.Remove the bumper cover.
    9.Inspect the bumper cover brackets for damage. If damaged, replace as necessary.
    10.To install, reverse the removal procedure.
