Suzuki Vitara 1992 with two air filters

Suzuki Vitara 1992

Will two air filters (oil /wet & dry) installed in series at intake of carburetor of engine affect fuel consumption or performance etc? Or is this configuration more beneficial?

Any restriction placed on the airflow would dampen performance. If the filters are large enough to allow the same airflow then no change would be noticed. If the filters allow more airflow, then the performance should increase. The reason would be since more air can enter the engine it would need more fuel to maintain the correct air/fuel ratio. The perfect air fuel ratio is about 14.7:1 and if you can get even close to that you are doing good. Most engines only ever see between 12.5 to 13.2 parts air to every 1 part fuel.
