I had an automatic transmission specialist do a scan with scanner and codes P0843 and B1031 showed. I have engine light and cog with exclamation mark on dashboard on every time I drive. It is a 2009 Honda Civic 5 doors (UK).
No obvious sign of any issues with transmission. Transmission fluid was checked by same outfit and found to be full.
Mechanic says its a sensor failure and nothing to worry about but I am about to go on a long journey soon of just under 5-700 miles and wondered if its safe to do so until I can book a repair?
Many thanks in advance Jaxer,
Seb
Looking at the Honda Code B1031 which is an Air Bag Code it shouldn’t have anything to do with the Honda Code P0843 which is transmission related. The Air bag is a safety issue and the Air Bag will most likely not function if needed. As for the transmission code, if the vehicle seems to be driving OK except for the light being illuminated on the dash, by all means feel free to drive it without concern it will get worse by driving. Now if it is shifting funny, get it to the shop! But in most cases as long as the check engine light is not flashing, you are not going to cause more harm to the engine by continuing to drive it.
Honda Code P0843
Open in transmission fluid pressure switch A (2nd Clutch) Circuit, or Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch (2nd Clutch) Stuck OFF
Honda Code B1031
The Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit detects the whole SRS electrical system and displays the malfunction either by illuminating or blinking the air bag warning lamp in the combination meter.
