I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport base. The engine has lost a lot of power. When I try to accelerate, the car feels like it does not want to go. When the engine gets to around 4500 RPM I hear a ping. Any idea what the problem could be?
First, should the check engine light be on please post the codes below. No codes, the next guess would be poor fuel since you are hearing engine pinging. This happens when the octane level is TOO Low and can be caused by water and or diesel in the fuel. This happens often when the tankers carry multiple grades of fuel and do not get all of the old fuel out first. You could try adding some dry gas to the tank and the next time it gets low fill it up with higher Octane and at a different fueling station to be safe.
